In along document, zooming in or out is a desperation measure, as it can take a
long time for the zoom to occur. And when you do that, you then typically won't
be able to see all the text that the comment refers to.  So you would be unable
to read both the document text and the comment text remarking on it at the same
time (without a lot of scrolling).
Then you would have to zoom back out and navigate your way to the next comment.

We will have to agree to differ on this point. I think it's a good mechanism
that's suitable for a moderate range of cases.
My personal opinion is that the suggestion you've made above isn't a good
solution because it would waste huge amounts of my time, when used in long
documents.
