            Bug ID: 107451
Summary: Impress 5.3.2.2 loses text boxes and images when
saving .pptx, unrecoverable loss of slide contents
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.3.2.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Impress
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: michaeljtbrooks at gmail.com

Description:
When editing a .pptx file in LibreOffice, components are displayed as normal on
the slides. I can make edits etc as normal. If I save this as .pptx is still
looks normal.
If I then re-open the file in Impress, some text boxes are missing with all
their data gone. Some images which were present in the original .pptx have
vanished.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a .pptx file which contains textboxes.
2. Move some of the text boxes around, edit their contents
3. Save, selecting .pptx
4. Re-open the file in impress, note the missing text boxes (and images)

Actual Results:
Impress saved a mangled version of the slides with missing textboxes and
missing graphics. It renders the slides permanently, irrecoverably damaged.

Expected Results:
Impress saves the slides as they appear on the screen, without losing items. At
the very least, where it is impossible to save contents like-for-like, Impress
should update the screen to show the user what the saves slides look like and
allow the user to undo the changes.

Users are very frequently collaborating with people who have Microsoft Office
PowerPoint. It is a common situation where LibreOffice users want to amend or
edit .pptx files. This should be supported properly. Yes we all prefer the ODS
format, but in the real world we have to deal with .pptx files.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes, just recently installed LibreOffice 5.3.2.2 with fresh
user profile.
