The colors depend on the currently active color palette. Goto Tools > Area
without having any object selected. Choose the color palette from the drop-down
list. Your chosen map is "Breeze". Try "Standard" or "HTML". Do you want a huge
palette? Then go with "freecolour-hlc". BTW, I put the Color Bar on top of the
Page Pane; that works better for wide screen displays.
