I just ran into the same problems on MacOS 10.9.5,
trying to install LibreOffice 5.4.3.2 as well as 5.4.4.2 from the official
libreoffice.org DMGs.
So it's not confined to MacOS 10.10.

Workaround from comment #3 saved the day.
