I searched in the internet for ideas how to circumvent this problem. I came
across this post:

and I found out that I also have the problem deplored there (I did not try LO
Calc before). My picture in the last comment above shows the situation after I
have clicked on cell B4.
Unfortunately I do not understand the description how to overcome the problem
given there. I don't know how to use modeset and do not know if it is supported
om my computer (which is a lenovo T400).
