I'd personally be all for this, just because it's more modern/future-proof, yet
only requires an update in Win7 (the update itself is from 2013, so it's
reasonable to expect systems to have it).

My questions:
- What happens if someone tries to run such an application on a Win7 without
platform update? (I guess this could be tested)
- Is it possible to show an error dialog with meaningful information in that
case? (eg. This application requires MS KB2670838 to run, update your system
and try again.)
