I also had this line height issue (perhaps better called a baseline issue?) I
would describe it as the Cardo text was "rendering" hidden 50% below the
evident baseline.

I use a small number of fonts on a regular basis and this is my go-to body text
font. I'm not sure whether others are affected. A random sample of 10 other
fonts showed none.

Version: 5.3.2.2 (x64)
Build ID: 6cd4f1ef626f15116896b1d8e1398b56da0d0ee1
CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Windows 6.19; UI Render: default; Layout Engine:
new;
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: group

Since you were talking about OpenGL, my Options shows:
Hardware acceleration: yes
anti-aliasing: yes
use openGL for all rendering: no
ignore opengl blacklist: no
"GL is currently disabled"

Would any of the Writer compatibility settings for space around paragraphs have
an impact here? A few of them were ticked, but no change when I cleared them.

--
An interesting behavioral note: the effect of hiding some portion of a line of
text is more severe when zoomed in more. But there is still no zoom level at
which the paragraphs look like what their formatting says they should look like
(e.g. single line spacing with .08 inch below the paragraph).

Happy to follow up and help solve this.
