            Bug ID: 107985
           Summary: FILESAVE: images, settings and operations lost after
                    re-opening a file
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 4.2.8.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Impress
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: giordano_lipari at yahoo.co.uk

Description:
The major feature of persistence across save-close-open cycles is lost.

The issue becomes evident when I open a saved file again. The issue is that
some features of the slide objects are lost. These features are not lost when
the file is saved while the document is open.

The features in point are some settings of and operations carried out on
various objects on the slides, namely:
1) font size: in a window containing text with different sizes, all text gets a
single size;
2) font colour: in a window containing paragraphs in different colours, the
colour in one paragraph is changed into the colour of the preceding paragraph;
3) character expansion: in a few lines where the text has been expanded, the
text comes back to default spacing;
4) area fill in transparent images: in two images with transparent background
that an area fill has been added on, the area fill disappears in both images.
5) added images: in a slide where some 5 images have been added, one of these
images disappears.

The issues 1 and 2 occur in all slides where the same format pattern occurs.
The issues 3 and 4 occurred in the single slide where the settings and
operation have been applied.

Issue 1 and 2 occurred once only and not yet again.
Issues 3 has been put to the test only once.
Issue 4 and 5 occurred twice in a row.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Perform any of the operation described in the frame 'Description', possibly
2. Save and close.
3. Reopen and observe whether all desired features are maintained.

Actual Results:
Described in the Description frame.

Expected Results:
The added images, settings and operations should be persistent at all times
after I close a file.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The major feature of persistence across save-close-open cycles is lost.

No bug is a joy, but this one is somewhat annoying because it undoes many
fine-tuning features that have been undertaken to enrich the visual impact and
that are relatively labour-intensive. Hence a good deal of fastidious work and
anticipation is lost.

Even if the issue occurs once and never again, the user gets inclined not to
apply those fragile features any longer and perhaps to think of more robust
tools to achieve the same effect.

Therefore, the potential to undermine the loyalty of advanced users is great.
