well, being just an user my suspect was just caused by the fact that before
that bug 99071 got fixed performance was good and after the fix was poor. 

I have no technical knowledge to inspect the code and tell if my suspect was
correct or not.

but what do you think about Telestos's bibisect? 
it seems to confirm that a precise committ caused the performance drop.
