            Bug ID: 113148
Summary: default file format for new spreadsheets should be
                    ODS, not CSV
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.4.0.3 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: rimhoff at issole.net

The default file format for new spreadsheets should be ODS, not CSV.
For users not familiar with the details of the file formats, it is very
annoying that all formatting and formulas are lost when saving in CSV.
In addition, there should be a warning when saving as CSV to that effect.

(Just as an example, an accountant friend who is not very computer savvy spent
two days balancing the accounts between two spreadsheets imported from a bank,
highlighting the matching rows with different colors and meticulously saving
periodically, only to discover after closing the files and reopening them that
all formatting was lost.)
