That is Apple's fault, not LibreOffice's.

Did you try and point LibreOffice to that folder under :

LibreOffice > Preferences > Advanced > Add

You might possibly have to try 

/jdk.../Contents/Home/jre 

or just

/jdk.../Contents/Home

In my attempts to get this to work with current JDK in older versions of
LibreOffice (3.x, 4.x) on a Macmini, none of them were successful, but that is
a known limitation as reported in bug 101956.
