Bug ID: 119051
Summary: Character padding not correctly applied with bullets
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.1.0.2 rc
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: octallo at alvarezp.org
Description:
Character padding not correctly applied with bullets
Steps to Reproduce:
1. New Writer document
2. Type "Hello world!" (don't press ENTER afterwards)
3. Highlight the text
4. Format » Character... » Borders » Padding » 2.00 cm for all 4 sides
5. Click on Bullets.
Actual Results:
Left border invisible and left padding unapplied.
Expected Results:
Left border visible and left padding applied.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Changing the Character Style selection for the bullets by doing this:
6. Format » Bullets and Numbering... » Customize » Character style: Numbering
Symbols
... it works! :-O
I don't see any visible difference between the style definition for Numbering
Symbols and Bullets.
It works for the following character styles: None, Numbering Symbols, Caption
Characters, Definition, Drop Caps, Footnote Characters, Page Number, Index
Link, Endnote Characters and Line Numbering.
It does not work for the following character styles: Bullets, Placeholder,
Rubies, Example, Variable, Emphasis, Internet Link, Visited Internet Link, Main
Index Entry, Footnote anchor, Endnote anchor, Quotation, Source text, Strong
Emphasis, User entry and Teletype.
It works weird for: Vertical Numbering Symbols.
Another way to make it working is by doing this:
1. New Writer document
2. Define a Character Style called "My Character Style"
3. ... » Borders » Padding » 2.00 cm for all 4 sides
4. ... » Borders » Line Arrangement » Set All Four Borders
5. Double click (apply) the "My Character Style" on the empty paragraph.
6. Type "Hello world!" (don't press ENTER afterwards)
7. Click on Bullets.
8. Right click » Bullets and Numbering... » Customize » Character style: My
Character Style.
Interestingly enough, editing "My Character Style" and inheriting it from
Bullets, like this:
9. Right click on the "My Character Style" from the Styles pane » Modify... »
Organizer » Inherit from: Bullets, OK.
... works!
