Is it a standard the "Check for updates" is in the App menu?

All the apps that I use have it in the Help menu (sometimes the About or Tools
menu).

I use: Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, Adobe Acrobat Reader, LibreOffice,
Microsoft Office, SourceTree, Eclipse, GnuCash.

I don't mind it being in the App Menu, and probably do prefer it there, but it
doesn't seem to be a common practice (based on the Apps I use).
