Mike Kaganski

Perhaps I wasn't clear but your suggestion doesn't solve my problem. Your
suggestion makes sense only IF the problem is one where data from the same
source is being re-examined again and again. It fails when the data is coming
from different sources. This seldom the case for me. I am creating new
spreadsheets for one or two analysis and then working with an entirely new data
set. This can happen ten or fifteen times a day.

The problem I was looking to solve was some of the time the data has a range of
column labels sometimes not. Which means when there are labels in the data I
have to go to the window (see the screenshot I included) and select the option
that lets LibreOffice know how to address the top row. I have to do it every
freaking time the data has a set of labels which is most of the time. The
default is the opposite of what I need. If I could override the defaults for
the window in the preferences I could create my own defaults for the data and
not have to futz with those options every time I import or paste a new sheet
into the file.

The problem is not unique to that specific option which is why being able to
set up preferences which actually allow you to control the options in all these
windows would be a boon to mankind.
