@Buovjaga: What machine did you use to reproduce this issue three years ago?
IMHO it could be a performance issue and depends on the computer one uses.
The black dots appear in the same moment, that LOs sidebar flickers. (see
screencast from Yousuf Philips).
I could only reproduce that in 3.3, but can't in later releases, even 5.0 (you
confirmed for 5.1.0.0.alpha1+). Only with 3.3 (portable) I see a splitsecond of
flickering. Later versions of Impress run faster either.
Tested 6.1 RC1 and 6.2alpha on VBox VMs with 12 GB RAM, 64 MB Video Memory, 4
CPU Cores (100% Execution Cap). My host PC has 16 GB RAM, a SSD, a recent
NVidia card and a i5-4670K CPU.
I set down the specs of my VMs massively, but could not provoke a flickering.
