For what it's worth, I'd like to endorse this enhancement too.  There is a
"format comment" menu entry, but what it brings up is the ability to change the
attributes of the characters used in comments.  I'd like to suggest adding an
additional feature in the dialogue that comes up that allows you to set the
width of the comment box.  (I happen to be using LO Version: 6.0.3.2 on a Mac.)
 Or it could be a part of the general preferences dialogues somewhere.
