A fix for this problem on Ubuntu 16.04 with KDE and using the default version
of Libreoffice shipped with Ubuntu:

/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf.
You also may want to go to systemsetting -> desktop behaviour -> desktop
effects and uncheck the window maximize effect, just because this effect gets a
little funky with the blt AccelMethod (just a tiny little glitch compared to
the huge usability problem reported here).
