Hi, thanks for bibisecting the bug, that seems like a very plausible commit
indeed (referencing it below). Adding Cc: to Juergen Funk (author) and Katarina
Behrens (committer).

It would be great to know how to reproduce the bug as well. It seems like the
exception that happens when creating the lock file is handled change in this
commit. Jerome, did a lock file get created in 5.4?

Mike, you've been dealing with lock-file-related issues lately, do you have any
thoughts on what could be the culprit in this case?
