"Web browsers do this as well" - my web browser certainly does not because
there is an option to turn off autocomplete in the web browser search. You'll
notice the issue also does not occur in MS Word. This suggests that "Most users
expect it and wont switch it off" is just speculation. 

When people say "Not a big deal to delete" it is just their personal
preference, they cannot assume that everyone else feels just as they do. The
'bug' makes errors in work slightly more likely, and that is not something to
be overlooked for those working in industries that are extremely unforgiving re
errors
