I am having the same problem. LO behaves exactly as described in the original
report, but I can not even paste my screenshot into GIMP. This is why I believe
the bug is not in LO. I think it is actually the following bug in GNOME and
XFCE:

It has been fixed in GNOME in 2011, but in XFCE it has been fixed only
recently, and so most XFCE installations are still affected.
