What you could try instead is creating an ODB file separately via the DB
creation wizard (File > New > Database, and using that to connect to your Apple
Contacts (you will be asked by the OS to authorize access to it in order for
the ODB to be created correctly.

Once the ODB has been created, restart the address book wizard and choose the
previously created ODB file.
