Description:
If a person starts with the dash symbol, everything connected to that will
become strikethrough.

To show this, try typing in the following text:
-$22-$82,000
and see what happens.

To fix it one must select all of that text and then select to Clear formatting.

I am using Debian 10.

No strikethrough, Duh.
