Currently if you right-click a table cell you can split it using three options.
Firstly, when you choose "into equal proportions" it should automatically
select 'horizontally' - I use this a lot and it's a pain to do the two-click.

However, what I would suggest rather is redoing the dialog so that it does both
horizontal and vertical splits all in one go; eg
Horizontal Splits : 2
Vertical Splits : 3
would split a cell into 6, and replace asking whether you are doing horizontal
or vertical. Currently you have to open the dialog twice, which makes no sense.
