Bug ID: 129502
Summary: is there a difference between insert cross-reference
"number" and insert cross-reference "number (no
context)"?
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.3.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org

document to illustrate cross references with number
According to
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/swriter/01/04090002.html
there are three different formats for inserting references to: number, number
(no context), number (full context).
Question: Is there a difference in behavior between number and number (no
context)?
The attached document attempts to test this question by using three levels of
heading, and then uses cross references to these headings, using all three of
these formats [number, number (no context), number (full context)].
I cannot see that number and number (no context) give a different result. Are
there conditions where they should give differences?
Additional information.
1. LibreOffice Writer Guide 6.0 (p. 380) only describes number (no context) and
number (full context). It does not mention number alone.
2. The online/offline help for "number" (alone) gives an unclear discussion,
referring to context. But if "number" should not be present at all, then maybe
this discussion needs to be removed, rather than clarified.
3. In short, it is unclear what is intended, what might be bug, and what might
be documentation problem.
