Bug ID: 129640
Summary: LibreOffice doesn't retain the paragraph formatting
for .doc and some RTF files on a Mac
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.3.2.2 release
Hardware: Other
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: Brucelgrubb at gmail.com
Description:
LIbreOffice ignores some of the paragraph formatting of .doc and some RTF files
on a Mac.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.View RTF file in TextEdit (.doc in Pages) to confirm formating
2.Open RTF or .doc file in LibreOffice
3.Note that some paragraph breaks are missing
Actual Results:
Many clear paragraph breaks are ignored resulting in a wall of text.
Expected Results:
Paragraph format to be retained
Reproducible: Sometimes
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
The work around is easy but requires the use of the Pages program.
1)Open RTF or .doc file in Pages
2)Export as a .docx file
3)Open .docx file in LibreOffice
Important note: saving the file as RTF from LibreOffice results in a much
larger file (5.1 MB vs 1.6 MB for the file I am using) but the formatting is
retained if opened back up in LibreOffice. However, the two RTF files look
Identical in TextEdit.
