Why not have the auto extension on by default? Normally, you have to enter the
filename in brackets ("test.123") to definitely use this extension. Isn't this
the default on Windows?

Sounds like a good example. But don't we talk about test.12.odt?


(Let's not go too far with the discussion. We agree more or less on the bug and
hope for the best regarding the implementation.)
