Your input is not corrected. It is taken from you (according to your locale,
which is set to en-US, i.e., using MM/DD/YYYY date ordering); the date is
converted from the text to the date internal representation; and then it's
shown according to the cell's format, which puts parts in a different order.

This is correct behavior.
