The attached document has a "tracked changes" document protection, handled
differently by Word and Writer a little bit. You can switch off it in Word by
removing this editing restriction: "In the file, click File > Info > Protect
Document > Restrict Editing and click Stop Protection at the bottom of the
Restrict Editing pane."

Note: It's possible to set it in Writer, too, switching off
File->Properties->Security->Record changes check box.
