OP here.  It's been nearly 6 years since I opened this ticket, and since no one
seems to care about fixing an issue that so many people are complaining about,
I am washing hands away from it and unsubscribing from emails.

I have uninstalled LibreOffice and now use Google Docs exclusively.  

Great job, the people who run this project are real champs.
