I have rechecked this in LibreOffice 6.0.1.1 on MX Linux 18.1. LibreOffice
Impress now has language identification in the status bar, but it is not
possible to click on this to open a language selection menu.
However, in LibreOffice 6.2.7.1 on openSUSE Leap 15.1, clicking on the language
identification section of the status bar opens a menu with the items "English
(UK)" (or whatever the current language is), "None (Do not check spelling",
"Reset to Default Language" and "More...".
Clicking "More..." opens the Languages part of the LibreOffice Options dialog,
i.e. where you set the language for the entire presentation.
