Can confirm.  
Conducted test using .odt file in comment 1 (and also added a Shape (anchored
to the frame). 

Results:

For .doc
1.  All (image, frame, shape) anchored to the frame are lost, while the frame
remains.
2.  Remaining frame remains as Text Frame

For docx.

1. Like doc., ll (image, frame, shape) anchored to the frame are lost, while
the frame remains.
2.  Unlike .doc, the frame was listed under TextFrame in Navigator.  After
saving and reloading, the frame is now listed under Drawing Object

Have changed bug title to better reflect the problem.
