I can also repeat the initially reported behaviour with :

Version: 6.0.7.3
Build ID: 1:6.0.7-0ubuntu0.18.04.9
Threads CPU : 4; OS : Linux 4.4; UI Render : par défaut; VCL: gtk3; 
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Calc: group

Blue background rectangle displayed in top left hand corner.
Image displayed underneath blue rectangle.
