@pjakruger: the version of LO you are using that you report in comment 2 is
obsolete (LO6101), as is LO6201.

Current releases are either :

LO6271

or

LO6312

Just on a hunch. Crashes on startup or shortly thereafter are often linked to a
malfunctioning extension.

Could you list the LO extensions that you have.
