I can confirm this specific problem no longer occurs in version 6.2.7 not
because it was fixed but because the Handout tab has been removed.

However if you click on the View menu and select Master Handout and then click
on the other Tabs, it will still switch to Master mode.

Adding a Handout Tab and a Handout item to the View menu will be a step forward
to fix this confusion.
