Bug ID: 127849
Summary: No automatic extension updates for Flatpak
installations
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.3.2.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: thecaspers at tutanota.com
Description:
LibreOffice has an online update feature that can be accessed through the
application menu: Help - Check for Updates. The updater also checks for updates
to extensions, although this is not documented. (See
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113015 for details.)
Automatic updates are normally configured through Tools - Options - LibreOffice
- Online Update. For a standard installation, turning on automatic updates also
allows LibreOffice to automatically check for updates to extensions.
However, in a Flatpak installation of LibreOffice, the online update and
automatic update features are absent from the application. Although extensions
can still be manually updated through the Extension Manager, LibreOffice lacks
a way to automatically check for updates to extensions in a Flatpak
installation.
It would be great if Flatpak installations of LibreOffice could also
automatically check for updates to extensions.
(This issue might also apply to Snap installations, although I have not
personally confirmed this.)
Steps to Reproduce:
Install LibreOffice through Flatpak.
Actual Results:
Unlike standard installations of LibreOffice, there is no way to automatically
check for updates to extensions in the Flatpak installation.
Expected Results:
There should be a way to automatically check for updates to extensions in the
Flatpak installation. Ideally, this would be implemented in "Help - Check for
Updates" and "Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Online Update".
Reproducible: Always
