add. observations:

same behaviour with numerical values in 6.2.8.2 and 7.0.0.0.a0+, the blank is
ommitted if you hit enter after insert, but if you continue editing you may
produce content like '1 234', 

different behaviour with formula content in abovementioned versions, additional
blank, and the formula is replaced with the value calculated in the source
cell, is that intentional, did i miss any option settings, or a bug? 

copying the content of a cell with <F2 - ctrl-a - ctrl-c> works fine and
without add. blanks with any content, but is some more typing,
