Have tested the attached database.
Have to set the Cllass Path and the path to the database first, deactivated
macros.

No problem to connect to the external HSQLDB, no problem to add a row. to
delete a row ...

Couldn't confirm any buggy behavior here.
Tested with LO 6.4.3.1 on OpenSUSE 15.1 64bit rpm Linux
