Bug ID: 132148
Summary: Download and Install of libreoofice 6.4 fails to
execute after installation of .DEB
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.4.2.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: oliverhbailey324 at gmail.com
Description:
I have used LibreOffice for many years. I have never had a problem installing
until version 6.4 on a Debian 10 machine with Kernel 5.5.0.1. When I install,
using sudo the applications install fine, but when I go to execute them, they
fail to start. The owner and group of the executable's is root - root. I
uninstalled them and attempted to install them without using sudo and get a
permissions error if sudo isn't used. This is a recent update to Debian, and I
do have 6.3 running on other systems successfully. This is the first time I
have tried to install 6.4 from the x86_64 download new.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Download current release to standard download folder and extract.
2.change to folder containing extracted debs.
3.run "sudo dpkg -i *.deb
4.Execute any program from menu.
Actual Results:
Programs install. Uninstalled and reinstalled without sudo, install will not
begin without root permission to execute installers and create folders for
programs.
Expected Results:
Programs installed, proper menu icons were created under office menu. Programs
just fail to start.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
OpenGL enabled: Yes
Additional Info:
Programs should execute if installation instructions are followed properly.
