If you don't want to do anything with the pixels, then you are only editing the
Exif header of the image. You can do that with a free tool like Exifpilot. 

Luckily Writer now understands all Exif headers, in the past it did not. I
always use a photo editor to prepare an image before I insert it in Writer. For
me, Writer should not do anything to the image. It is not a photo editor. But
this is my opinion.
