Bug ID: 139014
Summary: Heading Format & TOC carry preceding UNDELETEABLE
period, sometimes a space also.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: matthew.musial609 at gmail.com
This is not about dots between text and page number; dot or period PRECEDES
Chapter title TEXT in both Heading in document, and Table of Contents.
On a project of 3 ILLUSTRATED books also published as one compiled book,
working with Lulu.com MS-Word templates at first (but Word creates inactive TOC
so switched to LibreOffice, thank you!) I noticed the Table Of Contents entries
all had preceding periods, which would not delete in the table nor the Heading.
These are illustrated novels, with about two or three illustrations per page.
So text changes or image adjustments MAY also change the text flow around
(sometimes under) images.
A real pain in the asterisk to error-check.
I began to solve the problem Selecting All (in LibreOffice Writer) and Clearing
Formatting, then redoing all Headings (chapters) to rebuild the TOC.
This worked in the smaller books.
I proofed smaller books then copied into the larger summation document.
The periods came back, copying the smaller books into the larger book. The
text flow changed also, with images sliding out of place, MINIMAL changes but
nevertheless - more proofing.
I gave up. (because an error/adjustment correction in the compiled book needs
copying or repeating in the smaller book, if it exists there, and simply
copying the smaller book section and then pasting into the smaller book CREATES
TEXT FLOW/IMAGE PLACEMENT problems AGAIN.
A circle of frustration.
The larger book's TOC and Headings all have undeleteable periods in front of
the text.
I can live with that, but I shouldn't have to.
Hope this helps.
Keep up the great work!
