okay, so apparently with TDF builds of LO, using the native MariaDB/MySQL
connector with:
* native password
* caching_sh256 password
works now, on all branches that aren't EOL .

so i think we should close this bug, and any problems using
* other authentication plugins
* other connectors for MySQL
* other builds of LO, such as Linux distro packages
should be tracked in new bugs.
