I have the same problem running LO 6.0.7.3 on an HP Probook 32 bit machine
running Ubuntu Mate 18.04.3 LTS.  With LibreOffice running minimized with no
documents open, one CPU core will go to 100% every short while and remain at
100% for several minutes before dropping back to a much lower level.  When that
happens System Monitor reports soffice.bin to be at 50% CPU.
