Bug ID: 130316
Summary: The portable version of Writer pops up a bubble saying
that there is an upgrade available, which can lead to
failure.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 6.3.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Installation
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: john at vansomeren.co.uk
Description:
The portable version of Writer (under Windows 10) provides a message saying
that there is an upgrade available, but the unwitting user who tries to access
it from the bubble (or the tiny globe icon next to the x) will not be updating
the portable version.
The new version will download safely, but it isn't the portable version.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run the portable version at a time when there is an update version. Wait for
the bubble informing you of the new version
2.Download the new version
3.Instal it and notice that the portable version has not been upgraded: you now
have the new version installed on your hard disc,
Actual Results:
You end up with an out of date portable version *and* an unwanted local
installation of the latest version. I was using a borrowed machine and this
annoyed the owner
Expected Results:
I clicked on an Open Document file in My Documents and it opened with the newly
installed local version of Writer and *not* with the portable version. This
left its footprint in the machine I was using.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en-GB
Module: TextDocument
[Information guessed from browser]
OS: Windows (All)
OS is 64bit: no
