            Bug ID: 131752
Summary: Character emphasis marks low resolution and render
                    badly in UI
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 6.4.2.2 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: khanson679 at gmail.com

Description:
Under Character Formatting > Font Effects, one can choose "character emphasis"
from among the following: dot, circle, disk, and accent.

These appear to be low resolution bitmaps, which are inappropriate for 2020.
Additionally, the accent mark has a jagged, misformed shape.

Furthermore, they render with many glitches in LO. Shapes change as you zoom in
and out, such the the "disk" sometimes looks like a teardrop. Sometimes there
are gaps in what should be solid lines. Altogether, they look terrible at most
any zoom level. In principle this may be a separate issue, but I suspect that
whatever is done to replace these with vector graphics or symbols from a font
would also fix the rendering problems.

These marks are not rendered correctly in print and PDF export, reported
separately as bug 131751. Summary: only one mark is produced for an entire
formatted character sequence.
