Yes, well that's because the commands used on the command line are different
for macOS and Linux when trying to start LO.

On macOS in a terminal:

open /Applications/LO6432.app

for exammple, will launch the LO application, but will not give you any useful
output.

You can also use the complete path to the soffice binary :

/Applications/LO6432.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice

might provide you with more feedback information if there's a crash, but other
than that, no.

Docking of the 3D-Effects window is a profle configuration option set in the
XCU files. This would indicate that you might at one have had this set to be
the case rather than free-floating, or alternatively, the UX Devs changed this
property in the version where you are experiencing the issues (which I don't
have btw on macOS Catalina 10.15 as I have already reported here) and moved the
3D-Effects dialog to the sidebar, deliberately. If it is the latter case we are
talking about, then likely this will not be a bug.

As neither I, nor eisa01 can reproduce the issue on macOS (and on 2 different
OS release versions), there's not much else we can add.
