Hi all,

BACK TO BASICS ! And yes, I know I'm shouting... I shout very rarely, but
having this issue still open really pisses me off ! So more uppercase words
will follow...

It's been YEARS that I follow this issue.
Everyone ALWAYS agrees it MUST be solved QUICKLY.
It's one of the most URGENT and IMPORTANT issues preventing LO adoption (and
often a 1st step into FOSS), by a great number of users.

So, while we're unable to roll out that most basic feature everyone expects,
the $$$ monopolies keep on crushing FOSS on the office suites segment...

I've neither the skills nor the time to handle it, else I would have pushed a
proto years ago !

But ... people just do not agree with one another on how it has to be done,
often endlessly opening and reopening a hoard of little details, so in the end,
nobody gets started on it...

So I say ... BACK TO BASICS :

JUST DISPLAY THE INSERTED AND DELETED TEXT IN THE MARGIN.

Do it in the simplest possible way. No fuss, no talking about colours,
decorations, pretty overlays, balloons or displaying the authors, # of chars or
misc other details. Just to the point. If it's there, it can be prettified in
further releases. If it's not there, it's simply not there...

JUST DISPLAY THE INSERTED AND DELETED TEXT IN THE MARGIN.

I don't know the code, but given the wealth of gifted coders here, that simple
task would not be outside of reach if someone decide to tackle it, would it ?

So, thanks for reading my rant to the end... and sorry for the shouting, but I
entirely take that upon myself... And thanks to the great soul who will, or I
so hope, at last jump into it !
