            Bug ID: 133483
           Summary: insertion point gets stuck
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 6.3.5.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: Nick_Levinson at yahoo.com

Description:
To move the insertion point through a lot of text, I tap up-arrow through a lot
of lines. But the insertion point gets stuck at the beginning of a line. To
unstick it, I use left-arrow to move the insertion point to the end of the line
above and then up-arrow works just fine again.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I created an unsaved test document with lots and lots of text,
copy-paste-paste-paste-etc. to 76 pages, with minimal or no style changes. It
may need to be much more than one screenful, to force scrolling.
2. Near the bottom, put the insertion point in the body text at the right end
of one of the longest lines.
3. Tap (fast is okay) the keyboard up-arrow. Pretend your destination is far
up.

Actual Results:
Sometimes, scrolling stops. Without using any input (without using your
keyboard or mouse), visually look for the insertion point. It's probably at the
left end of a line, which is counterintuitive, since it was on the right side.
Once you find it, you can move it by any method you like to wherever you wish.

Expected Results:
No interruption in moving the insertion point when you're still tapping an
arrow.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
So far, I have not identified limits under which this always happens without
being intermittent. In one test, I think the stop was at the same place twice,
but when I keyboarded left-arrow once, which put the insertion point at the
right end of the line above, and tapped up-arrow once, the insertion point was
not stuck again at the left but was at the right end of the line where the
problem had been, and even when I moved the insertion point a few lines down at
the right and tapped the up-arrow a bunch of times it did not get stuck. Since
I made the test document by pasting repeatedly, that paragraph was a copy of
the same paragraph a few pages up, and the insertion point did not get stuck at
the next paragraph that was identical. Another paragraph where sticking
occurred also was repeated farther up, but no sticking occurred in identical
copies. Even when finding a problem spot, trying to replicate the problem at
the same spot failed; the next time in just seconds, the spot was fine. Where
sticking occurs, no style change is between characters or paragraphs. The
problem can occur either between paragraphs or within a paragraph.

This is a noncritical minor annoyance that can make a non-geek think your
software is broken.

It has happened through multiple versions of LO, including the one I have this
one:

Version: 6.3.5.2
Build ID: 6.3.5.2-3.fc31
CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 5.5; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

OpenGL is not a setting.
