This was also reported in bug 120220. The feature was removed in a patch
because it wasn't ready for production. I sent an email to the LibreOffice
development mailing list to see if I could get some information about the
current status.

If they expect to keep the Data Provider, I'd also be willing to help. It needs
better documentation. I also was not able to find any reference to Data
Provider in the Calc guide.
