Works fine for me. I navigated to
https://www.libreoffice.org/themes/libreofficenew/img/header1.jpg
right-clicked, Copy image, pasted to Impress.

What is the problem specifically for you? Please give an example online image.

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information.
