I now see Bug 37873. An aspect of the problem I am reporting here is that if
the source paragraph has some indentation, copying part of it into a table cell
will preserve the indentation, with the result that the user can no longer see
what he copied. It makes a difference whether I deliberately format a table
cell in such a way as to render its content invisible or whether I copy
something into it in good faith, and it becomes invisible.
